I reckon Gerard Henderson’s onto something with this ‘hyperbole watch’. There’s so much material to work with, as exemplified by today’s three cases.
A representative from an employer association whose name I didn’t catch claimed on tonight’s ABC News that increasing workers’ entitlement to (unpaid) parental leave from one to two years would ‘destroy the Australian economy’.
Kim Beazley […]

Well, I wonder whether John Howard is headed to the Matt Talbot Hostel for Homeless Politicians?
Today’s Newspoll presents a good result for Labor under Rudd, with the 2pp at 55/45, and Labor’s primary at 46% against the Coalition’s 39%. It’s all there, described by Dennis Shanahan in a bitchily-titled article “Rudd puts Labor in front: Newspoll“. […]

Again with the “Is Bomber Imploding” articles! Despite Dennis Shanahan’s and his underling, Little Matty Price’s best efforts, Bob still doesn’t get it.
How is it that an improvement for Labor in both primary and 2pp, leaving them ahead (again) of the government, work out to Despair and Disaster for the Party?
Labor has lost precisely 5 […]

You’ve probably read all the stories so I’m not going to link to them.
This week has seen one outlier Newspoll (nevertheless a 2pp tie) and one mix-up over the name of a Who Weekly celebrity who died tracigcally young, turned into a concocted firestorm of derision and anonymous speculation on the fate of Kim Beazley […]

AWB scandal, Beazley - 26 Comments » - Posted on November, 17 at 11:31 am
If I were Kim Beazley, I’d be on a plane to meet with new House Speaker in the US, Nancy Pelosi. Especially given that Mr Howard is currently in Hanoi, of all places, meeting with Mr Bush. Would make for a nice study in contrasts, past-and-future and all that. Still, Kim came […]

I’m just wondering why Matt Price (and others) taunt Beazley for not doing their bidding and reshuffling shadow cabinet, claiming Howard is doing the same thing, so why not Kim?
Yet, have any of these tossers actually put it to Howard that a reshuffle of the government is in store? Is there anything more than vapourware […]

What do Australians want in a PM?
“Mean and Rotten”, or “Warm and Fuzzy”?
That’s the question asked by Newspoll for The Australian in a followup poll to yesterday’s voting intention survey, drily entitled “Personality traits of Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition”. Sounds suitably scientific, doesn’t it?
Another question that might be asked is: “How come […]

Not sure about this:
THE Opposition Leader, Kim Beazley, will today take a swipe at Paul Keating and John Howard while assuring home owners that a Labor government will keep their interest rates lower.
In a speech designed to show Labor believes the interest rate monkey is off its back, Mr Beazley will chide Mr Keating for […]
