Wingnut derangement

Rightwingers say the darndest things - - Posted on October, 26 at 11:36 pm by Ken L

To wrap up this weekend’s series of vignettes from WingnutWorld, here’s a last piece of well-considered, entirely logical and evidence-based argument from one of the shrinking number of neo-cons who still believe that Bush is a great president:

Who do you want answering that phone at 3 a.m.? A man who’s been cramming on these issues for the last year, who’s never had to make an executive decision affecting so much as a city, let alone the world? A foreign policy novice instinctively inclined to the flabbiest, most vaporous multilateralism (e.g., the Berlin Wall came down because of “a world that stands as one”), and who refers to the most deliberate act of war since Pearl Harbor as “the tragedy of 9/11,” a term more appropriate for a bus accident?

Me, I would have thought North Korea invading the south was a more deliberate act of war than the September 11 terrorist incident, not to mention the Argentinian invasion of the Falklands, the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia, the Iraqi attacks on Iran and Kuwait, the US invasions of Afghanistan, Panama, Iraq and sundry other contries too numerous to mention, plus innumerable other somewhat warlike acts by various nation states since 1941.

But for the Krauthammers of this world these things are invisible. If something didn’t happen to the USA, it might as well not have happened at all.

The thing is, these people are not stupid. They have simply fallen victim to such egregious perception errors that their minds really no longer understand why September 11 wasn’t the most war-like event since Pearl Harbour, or that there’s not actually an Islamic war of conquest that constitutes an unprecedented international peril. They said they were going to create their own reality and they’ve succeeded … inside their own heads.

There’s a label for this kind of thing: pathological delusion. The fact that people suffering from the disorder still hold high office in the USA or continue to be accorded respect and carry influence at the top of the government and legislature is absolutely terrifying.

Even if the US takes some small steps to rejoining the rest of the world, we cannot expect the Krauthammers and Coulters to dry up and blow away.

They’ll simply crawl under a handy rock and wait…

  2. MikeM Says:

    Charles Krauthammer:

… was born in New York City and raised in Montreal. He was educated at McGill University, majoring in political science and economics, Oxford University (Commonwealth Scholar in Politics) and Harvard (M.D. in 1975). He practiced medicine for three years as a resident and then chief resident in psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.

In 1978, he quit medical practice, came to Washington to direct planning in psychiatric research for the Carter administration…

You’d think he would recognise pathological delusion when he sees it. Or can psychiatric training render people more susceptible to it?

  3. Molotov's Cocktail Says:

I would assert that the unprovoked US invasion of Vietnam in which 3 million Vietnamese died for no reasons whatsoever, plus America’s secret invasion and bombings of Cambodia & Laos, would also rate rather higher as deliberate acts of war than the fleabite attack on Sept 11th - about which we’ll never hear the friggin end.

“But for the Krauthammers of this world these things are invisible. If something didn’t happen to the USA, it might as well not have happened at all.”

And it’s frightening to see that “if something didn’t happen” some patriotic American creeps would MAKE SURE IT DID!

There’s some sick bastards out there.

These were the geniuses who met Sarah Palin on their National Review cruise to Alaska.

“Who do you want answering that phone at 3 a.m.?”

    Try this exercise.

A mob of irresponsible bankers, unimpeded by any effective regulation, bring on a crisis which has the world’s economies in an uproar.

Now… how do you think the US Govt would react if these short-sighted clowns had been from Shanghai instead of Wall Street?

There’s no way of knowing for certain how the Oval Office would play it. But is it so hard to imagine the words “sabotage” and “attack” dribbling from the Crawford Cretin’s lips?

I’m worried that John McCain is showing the same type of unimaginative and sneaky kind of approach to politics that George W. Bush has displayed in the White House. He’s attempting to put up a front that says to the viewing public “I’m a good ol’ boy and you can trust me to get the decisions right”.

I’m concerned that his age & illness-related restrictions will lead to him being a narrow thinking, apathetic & easily manipulated President…& force him to rely on many of the same tricksters, profiteers & war-mongers who helped bring about the Iraq War & economic fiascos.

When you’re mentally & physically exhausted & looking for the EASY ROAD - particularly if you’re one who believes in the “free market” system & has little time for big government unless it’s to support military projects – I bet it’s quite appealing to be able to sit in that Commander in Chief’s chair & point a trembling finger in the direction of that next MANUFACTURED ENEMY (think of McCain’s song about Iran…& the length of the election campaign…draining even for a young man) and pipe out w/ cracked lips, dry mouth & hitched breath:

“Team, I need a diversion whilst our corporate allies figure out this economic mess…& I need experts who can trim expensive public services like Medicare, and partially privatising pensions during that diversion…get Murdoch on the phone…and provide me with an incident that can be pumped up by our Fox mates & prove to be a hook into the next few years. I don’t care if we blame Iran or Syria. We’ll FREE both of those damned nations, even if I die trying. If GW & Cheney can do it & win two terms so can we. There’s no way we’re running from this war, not like Vietnam. Not going through that humiliation again. No way. And get Kissinger & the Israeli ambassador over here”.

McCain’s immediate & unquestioning support for Georgia during their conflict w/ Russia demonstrates he is as stubborn & un-diplomatic & as willing to use a “big stick” approach to foreign policy as GW Bush.

Furthermore, McCain has demonstrated little imagination on the campaign trail, he’s easily pushed around by the Palin team…& even the Palin choice demonstrates he was manipulated by some of the same Neo-Cons & media magnates who lied…& laid the slimy path that led America into Iraq.

McCain is an aged war veteran looking to create a new legacy…someone who sees themselves as a George Washington…an Eisenhower…A HERO…someone who distorts & rewrites his past…but also lives in a past where wars were winnable.

He is EGGED ON by a VP choice that was eager to send her son into a bogus war in order to make her own reputation SHINE.

It seems obvious to me that McCain hopes his eyes & legacy will SHINE by sending many more youngsters to war…& the Republicans are getting smarter by the day when it comes to finding ways to propagandise kids & turn them into “pumped up warriors” that end up in conflict zones w/ NO WAY OUT. And there are plenty of movies & TV shows owned & produced by those same media moguls that can be used to feed a new generation of potential warriors. Not to mention computer games.

How many flag draped coffins will return to keep the SHINE in the eyes and reputation of President McCain & VP Palin?

Too many I imagine. Far too many already.

We’re already seeing signs that America needs HEALING big time.

    Obama generally uses HEALING WORDS.

Any young people & their families who worry about being sent to WAR best get out to VOTE.

Before THE LIGHT of HOPE becomes the SHINE in McCain & Palin’s crazed eyes.

Schwarzenegger’s hyped speech proves my points above:

“the Republicans are getting smarter by the day when it comes to finding ways to propagandize kids & turn them into “pumped up warriors” that end up in conflict zones w/ NO WAY OUT.”

He uses bogus “Obama wants to use Socialist policies that harmed Europe decades ago” type rhetoric…more distortions & fear stuff from the man who helped vote GW Bush in…& look what America got?

    CHAOS.

Just like in many Schwarzenegger films. Hey Arnie!…life’s nit FICTION.

Perhaps he needs to kill of his Republican side the way he melted himself in Terminator 2 in the end?…for the good of the kids…all those who need affordable healthcare.

Perhaps Americans should’ve listened less to this “terminator” (Hey! where’s Bin Laden terminator?) & they would have a decent, fairer, more effective healthcare system like some of the European states…instead of workers’ money flooding up to types like Schwarzenegger.

A man who uses his PUMPED UP ON STEROIDS ACTION CHARACTERS to pretend how tough he is. The man who has heart problems yet has the gall to attack Obama on his fitness.

I appreciate Schwarzenegger’s clean energy efforts…but he has made plenty of mistakes as Governor. And also doesn’t mind calling for help from government when it suits him. Another “push me pull you” Republican.

Any American who allows themselves to be pumped up by such BS again is just NOT AWAKE. They’re living in movie style DREAMLAND. That brings only NIGHTMARES.

    NO LONGER EYES WIDE SHUT
