Yes, as ever, brave litte USA with no more than half the world’s military forces is gallantly trying to defend itself against hordes of implacable enemies. Any moment now, its 70+ overseas bases might be overwhelmed by the terrifying forces ranged against it. This month’s orcs and ringwraiths have of course been correctly identified by the only warrior who might save the US in its hour of darkest peril:
McCain understands that an Islamic war of conquest is being waged on a number of diverse fronts which all have to be seen in relation to each other.
Yeah, that McCain is a friggin’ global strategy genius. He understands that nothing in the whole history of the human race was as bad as the Islamic war of conquest. Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin … they were nothin’ compared to the ‘unprecedented international peril’ that Melanie sees engulfing us. But what chance does a maverick have when the whole of the establishment is arrayed against him?

Wingnuts seem to live eternally in an emotional condition comprising equal parts incoherent rage and irrational paranoia. Nothing is so extreme that it can’t do with a good dose of hyperbole. They are utterly humourless and incapable of self-awareness. I’d be interested to know the long-term effects on their health - surely it can’t be good for them. Maybe there’s a doctoral thesis there for some enterprising research student.

Pentagon builds 65,000-strong special ops force

The Pentagon expects to have a special operations force of about 65,000 troops in place in the next few years, about twice the number that existed before the September 11 attacks in 2001, a defence official said.
Michael Vickers, the assistant Secretary of Defence who oversees special operations and low-intensity warfare, said the total would provide enough Army Green Berets, Navy SEALs and other elite units to fully confront the militant threats that face US interests worldwide.
“Probably early in the next decade, our special operations will be essentially almost twice as large as they were at the beginning of the decade,” Mr Vickers told a forum hosted by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
YES!!! Ya just gotta do somethin’ to protect those “US interests worldwide”. Doncha? Never mind that those “interests” might conflict with those of the natives.

There seems to be an inability to learn even basic lessons within the military/political establishment. What is the logical link between September 11 and the size of a military special ops force? None that I can see, but to these bozos it seems self-evident that doubling your rapid response forces is an appropriate response to the risk of terrorist attacks. It’s like they’ve completely lost the capacity to think rationally. Life is symbols and slogans, nothing more.

Because there can be NO doubt that the upgraded special forces will only ever be used “to fully confront the militant threats”. Nothing more. That the beauty of calling it a rapid RESPONSE force. Surely they’re never going to be the aggressors, are they?

He mightn’t have much sympathy outside Iran and within,but the small of physical staure Leader with the word mad in the middle of his name,has fallen ill after twenty hour working days.I for one,wish him well,and hope he recovers,at least his physical ,mental,and spiritual equilibrium.After all,turning Iran and his leadership into the greatest evil on earth,when really there is one outstanding evil which is calling everone in again, to believe in Free Markets and all that.By George he is even stirring up the Russians again,even though a blind person would know by now Russia acted properly.So the Jeish retired Generals are stirring up the heat again.George and his dad and all their underlings and the Jews of Israel who want the world to persecute them with words,again,have taken another breath.And George is all the way with the blood sport,so countries like Iran,now know its a three-pronged evil,and thankfully there are people like Ralph Nadir,pointing the finger at Obama,for seemingly anti-semitic attitudes to Palestinians who are Arabs.Melanie Phillips has a cute name,but speaks horseshit.Poisoned with cyanide I suppose.Go on Melanie! The USA currently runs 737 overseas military bases in hundreds of countries. By camparison, a world power such as China has precisely none. But it’s not as though the United States of John Waynes is ultra paranoid or anything.
Meanwhile I can tell the Pentagon how to save billions and stand down that 65,000-strong force of idiots: just stop being the world’s biggest and most hated arseholes. Mind your own fucking business for once, and stop trying to take over the world fucking world.
