Pre-election tristesse
US issues - - Posted on September, 7 at 12:04 pm by Ken L
What a wretched business this US presidential campaign is.
Now the conventions are over, we can expect two months of the Democrats mouthing endless platitudes that include the word ‘change’, while ALP-style they slide so close to their opponents’ policies it’s hard to tell the difference and justify it with bluster about the importance of ‘not giving the Republicans ammunition’ (i.e. by disagreeing with them) and ‘appealing to the swinging voter’ and ‘the vital middle ground’.
Meanwhile the Republicans will alternate between sniggering at jokes about Obama bin Biden and Barry’s inability to bowl and screeching outrage at Obama’s hatred of America and the elitist media’s recalcitrance in refusing to present a 100% pro-Republican message. As examples, you need read only this (H/T Hilzoy):
After he was asked for an explanation on why voters should question Obama’s love for his country, Inhofe issued a written statement on Friday to clarify his earlier comments.
“Let me be clear,” he said.
“I am not questioning Sen. Obama’s patriotism, but you have to question why at times he seems so obviously opposed to public displays of patriotism and national pride, like wearing an American flag lapel pin.”
And this:
DENVER, Sept. 6 (UPI) — Democratic officials Saturday denied a news report that Republicans picked 12,000 U.S. flags from the trash after the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
Fox News reported supporters of Republican presidential nominee John McCain claimed a vendor at Invesco Field told them the flags were left in trash bags near garbage bins following Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s acceptance speech Aug. 28.
Not to mention this:
US election: Storm as Oprah says no to Palin interview
We can also expect more learned commentary like this (H/T maha):
The most important thing to know about the left today is that it is centered on social issues. At root, it always has been, ever since the movement took form and received its name in the revolutionary Paris of the 1790s. In order to drive toward a vision of true human liberation, all the institutions and moral codes we associate with civilization had to be torn down. The institutions targeted in revolutionary France included the monarchy and the nobility, but even higher on the enemies list of the Jacobins and their allies were organized religion and the family, institutions in which the moral values of traditional society could be preserved and passed on outside the control of the leftist vanguard.
…
If this analysis is correct, the single most important narrative holding the left together in today’s politics and culture is the one offered–often with little or no dissent–by adversarial feminism.
I think he’s writing about people like me and most of the regular commenters here. Being sworn enemies of the moral values of traditional society, we’re all bound together by our adversarial feminism. So now you know.
What fucking morons these pseudo-analysts are.
If I was writing in the USA I guess I would soldier on but I’m not, so I won’t. It’s all too nauseating and the cumulative effect is a tendency to despise much of the human race and an associated deep depression. Expect my writings to be a US presidential election comment-free zone until November, when I anticipate writing something sombre about the narrow victory of President John McCain. By the way, did you know he was a prisoner of war? Maybe he’ll be able to take his revenge on the gooks at last.

Hell, Ken, you forgot to mention another war that broke out just before the election day, that has nothing to do with anything, but needs to be fought, anyway.
For lapel pins?

Let us show our disdain for the American way of doing things,by getting our government off its arse and self-proclaimed middle ground, and compete intelligently as a nation and go and talk to the Russians!?Who as far as I am concerned just unwilling to put up with pretentious shit, whilst killer weapons are pointed at humans. So if they have comeback with a vengeance,we have also seen them talk to Americans plainly and simply before today with high relevance and no stooped moronic thing about being less than a super power. The Russians are, whatever they are,and I prefer that than the inflated shit coming from the U.S.A. and France.Lets burst their bubble, and tell our Kevin and Navy leader Houston to just jump on the important plane and fly to Moscow to see and hear their side from within Russia, and then make up our own minds rather than have toady stuff feed to us via the Murdoch Empire.Except for the Chernobyl accident and their crazy nuclear energy program,I think the Russians are always acting intelligently without phoney representation of what they are. With Rudd an Houston why not a token Israeli friendly Australian, who is convinced they have more intelligence then their same organizational lot as Zionist or Military generals. They can name themselves, after all why have all these sillinesses in Australia like the U.S.A. if you are simply concerned about Jews copping it from Russia.I think what we are hearing from the Russian side is in fact the higher percentage truth, than from the Georgian camp.Cheney has proven himself to be a greedy war dog, forcing Russians into being belligerent to the Ukraine. Some simple dialogue with the Russians without this American Israeli Pom stuff could be overcome by us ignoring that lot and presenting our own.Come on Rudd talk to the Opposition to see if they have some adults amongst their ranks. The Russians will not be forced into a please explain. They have explained it.All we really need to know in a non paranoid sense ,some way forward where Russians are seen as just stating their case, and we only bad mouth them,if,we know for certain, they are lying. And how do you do that!?Because they may not be!Only if they tell us,out of concern for us,rather than any other country. And many in this country would prefer the U.S.A. to stop claiming it knows all the authentic matters of being thoroughly human.Even at Military Intelligence Level.Because Cheney is a bloody crook and so was Rumsfeld, and George W.Bush wasn’t fully qualified even as an accountant. And his dad had much to do with the beginnings of the C.I.A. and the bloody Kennedy’s are just too polite to say much about that.

I am back like seagull shit after eating some potato chips. So I visited DavidIcke.com and found out the U.S.A. has resumed patrol duty to the South Americas, and Venezuela are having a joint show of hardware at sea.And Russian air fleet flying around the world are welcome to land there at its airports. So the U.S.A. is feeling a bit sensitive about that.Poor bastards. Now I know that certain military trained criminals from Mexico are probably already in a skirmish with U.S.A. authorities in an undeclared war ,of non competing drug importers illegal. The C.I.A. isnt the border type law enforcers having to put up with well trained drug pushing insurgents. But dont ask too loud where they are, because you will never find out where the C.I.A. unless they sign affidavits and let their mugs be shot by camera at Wal-marts.So we are going to soon cop more cold war hysterics because the Russians have enough fuel to get out of northern ocean waters, and well, what fun it would be to get too sunny Venezuela!A sort of treat the Americans use to get, when Bing Crosby was around crooning and selling oranges.Or before,I have watched too many U.S.A. films involving friendly natives to American warships. So seeing I am not a cousin of the double of the North Korean Leader I will leave it at that.I am loath to accept whining Americans about Russians trying a Cuban episode on again. When it is simply in their camp, wether they feel threatened or not. There probably is no good reason to feel threatened. And all those Russian sailors maybe very helpful if hurricanes and other matters inflict their damage across the whole Americas. We must wait and see,if the U.S.A. is courageous enough too think, the Mighty Russian Fleets could be helpful to all across the Americas, and add wealth as much as Security.

And . . .George Bush Snr’s company the Carlisle Group has just bought the CIA.
What, you say? That’s right, the esteemed spookery seems to have been privatised and a major new owner is Bush’s Carlisle. Of course there’ll be no conflicts of interest here with the President’s ‘Intelligence’ agency being owned and run by his father.
But the upside is that taxpayers won’t have to fund foreign coups and assassinations any more; from now on they’ll be profit-making ‘enterprises’ in the true tradition of grand American capitalism.
It makes me warm all over to see the great ship of America steering, as always, on the right heading through the world’s turbulent seas.

The CIA been privatised? Really?
Do you have links?

Greenfield here again, what a troublesome smartie he is.Put him in your tank!Having done my normal dash here and there media, tonight I have some praise for the U.S.A.It actually reached out to Cuba.Mind you in a not very generous way,but , it was an offer. Then from my lastest purchase of New Scientist the odd type dust floating around in Iraq has proven to be a killer and deformity reality.See the U.S.A. returnees,if they survive Afghanistan as well. Then I purchased a New Dawn magazine, and read about The Liberty, and how its survivors still feel no justice has taken place. On the day Old Olmert is up for criminal matters. Then I visited DavidIcke.com and am sickened again,by a film depicting a massacre of Talibani who had given up.Watch the other half tomorrow.Makes it really easy to understand why they are now suicidal.I think we should get out of there quick pronto, instead of trying to win, save some innocent young Talibani lives, and make them realise, before it is too late, hardly anyone in this nation, had any intention of wanting Talibani think that was their only option, including trying to get Nuke weapons.I think we need to broadcast Australian thought via radio straight to them,or computer, and let them recognise, well it isn’t me that needs Talibani as enemy.I might criticise, but not even with a weapon, and with technology, you can turn it off,if it doesn’t appeal. On that massacre alone,no money will compensate, but shit,it better be offered, and in very large appreciable dollops.I am beginning to think our military personnel, must start asking questions of a deeper moral sense about being there, and the dog compound in the light of the Afghan Massacre, means they may have heard of Taliban bodies being chewed on as bones and carcass.Rumour or truth, their feelings in Afghanistan are real enough to be concerned enough.Personally,I dont care if they hate Australians,my message is personal, and it is Australian only as a way of defining myself, not as some great religious belief.I am disgusted by these actions of killing prisoners in the manner in the film.Cannot be like that!?Greenfield!? Well volunteer arsehole,to be on the front line and let an Australian soldier have a rest.

Actually it was Hard Evidence Magazine,re Liberty.A long day when swallowing all the truth when faced with the inertia of this country, and people like Greenfield.I suppose he has his reasons Greenfield..although it wouldn’t pass a Truth Serum test.

Ah, of course: ‘Progress is Corruption’.
The cry of the impotent conservative.
Poor Canute… still unable to stop the tide coming in.

See the Americans have nationalised the banks. Ben Chifley was … how far ahead of his time?
September 9th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Well, if the RNC’s troops are putting it out that lapel-pins were trashed at the Democratic convention, we are all doooomed. The only thing worse would be for this sacrilege to be inspired or carried out by pantsuit-wearing women-against-religion.
There’s nothing as believable as a lie. Nothing sells as well as a lie unless it’s a trash-bag full of lies.
The only hope I see is that the under-25s live by cellphone, and the pollsters don’t have access to those numbers.

“Greenfield!? Well volunteer arsehole,to be on the front line and let an Australian soldier have a rest.”
I’ll second that phill t.
“The only hope I see is that the under-25s live by cellphone”
And don’t they have the mounting debt to show for it. I get the gist of your comment NiP…but the cellphones contain so much corporate propaganda these days the kids can barely think for themselves…let alone outside of the box. Some have VACANT eyes & speak in corporate tongue.
“aka Laissez fairy”
lol…classic Mars
“See the Americans have nationalised the banks.”
Unfortunately Big Russ it’s just in time to add more debt burden to a government BROKEN by the Busheviks. That lot will ensure the weasels who orchestrated the CRASH will get their feed…whilst the American taxpayer who ain’t so WELL OFF will get less services…and more grief.

But I like the image of you wetting yourself. It just seems so…
…appropriate.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:11 am
Ah, your defence of the corrupt Social Studies departments is ergo a defence of pomo.
September 11th, 2008 at 11:38 am
I do not know why you good folk continue to waste your time and energy responding to John Greenfield, long after he has quite clearly demonstrated that he is nothing more than a one-act, bad faith, inflammatory troll, who is just after the attention. Quite sad really.
Ignore him.
