Iraq refugee breakthrough

Post-invasion iraq - - Posted on May, 30 at 11:57 pm by Ken L

One of the consequences of the invasion and occupation of Iraq is that more than two million Iraqis have been forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in other countries. The warmongers have never seemed terribly concerned about this, preferring to be half glass full kind of guys and highlight how blessed the Iraqis are who are still in their home country enjoying god’s gift of freedom.

Now however the yanks have finally accepted their share of the burden:

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 29 (UPI) — U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pledged the United States will accept more refugees from Iraq, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said.

Reinfeldt said Rice indicated the United States would be prepared accept between 5,000 and 12,000 refugees from Iraq during his meeting with her in Stockholm, The Local reported Thursday.

Of course, some whingers are never satisfied:

Reinfeldt said Sweden has taken in more than 40,000 Iraqi refugees since 2003, more than the United States has accepted.

“It’s worth noting that this is a country which has taken in less than 1,000, around 700 to 800,” he said during a break in Thursday’s International Compact with Iraq, an international conference to promote peace in the country.

Rice thanked Sweden for having provided its assistance to Iraqi refugees.

“Many Iraqis leave their homes and Sweden has been important in that regard,” she said. “It is really appreciated, not only in Iraq, but also in the United States.

Don’t you love that bit from Rice? Many Iraqis ‘leave their homes’. How odd. Quite a lot lie down and die too. It’s all very strange and nothing whatsoever to do with her or her mob of murderous cronies in Washington.

PS - in February last year:

WASHINGTON (CNN) — The Bush administration hopes to resettle about 7,000 Iraqi refugees to the United States this year, the State Department said Wednesday.

I guess you can’t blame them for being so slow to actually get any into the homeland … you know what it’s like when you have two million applicants and only 7,000 vacancies. The selection interviews are a nightmare.

Iraqis are a strange lot. They voluntarily “leave their homes”, they volunteer to tie themselves up in Baghdad jails then ask to be tortured or even popped off, they let themselves starve as they watch their children die after playing around in the dust with plutonium pellets or bits of cluster bombs, and just seem to never do anything about it.

It seems to be all their fault and their ingratitude for getting democracy is puzzling after I thought it was all “mission accomplished” long ago.

Ms Condoleezza Short-Fried Rice is so low she could parachute out of a snake’s arse. Already convicted by her own Congress of issuing a tsunami wave of lies and denials over Saddam’s fairytale WMD, she proudly boasts Gold membership to that exclusive gang of international thugs, the US government, the very worst ever.

It therefore astonishes me how Australia continues to curtsy to such horrendous juntas of criminality and genocide against humanity. We seem to possess no originality, backbone or maturity of our own, always preferring to sleep with the enemy rather than declare our own Independence Day.

goodness gracious, that’s so low-brow. Are we talking about the same person that made it into Dickipedia?:

    Academic Career
Rice became a professor at Stanford University in 1981 and soon attracted the attention of Brent Scowcroft, who asked Rice to become his Soviet “expert” on the United States National Security Council in the administration of George H. W. Bush. According to R. Nicholas Burns, President Bush was “captivated” by Rice. Perhaps the elder Bush thought Rice would be perfect for a weird sexless marriage to his fuck-up alcoholic son, George W. If so, he would be right.

At Stanford, Rice was taken under the wing of George P. Shultz, a fellow at the Hoover Institution, a patronage mill and retirement center for failed right-wing hacks. In 1992, Shultz, who was a board member of Chevron Corporation, recommended Rice for a spot on the board. Chevron was pursuing a $10 billion development project in Kazakhstan. As a Soviet specialist, Rice knew the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, a corrupt dictator. But as a strong supporter of human rights and democracy, Rice refused to do the bidding of Chevron and sell-out her beliefs for a few dollars.

Just kidding. Of course she sold out. She traveled to Kazakhstan on Chevron’s behalf, and they got the deal. In honor of her work, in 1993, Chevron named a 129,000-ton supertanker the “SS Condoleezza Rice.” Interestingly, had it been the tanker SS Condoleezza Rice and not the actual Condoleezza Rice that had been the National Security Advisor and then Secretary of State, the Middle East probably wouldn’t be any worse than it is now.

    and

In the 2004 U.S. Presidential election, Rice became the first National Security Advisor to campaign for an incumbent president. She stated that while: “Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the actual attacks on America, Saddam Hussein’s Iraq was a part of the Middle East that was festering and unstable [and] was part of the circumstances that created the problem on September 11.” She further claimed that “the September 11 attackers and Saddam were both bipeds, both mammals, and both existed under the current laws of gravity, which clearly constitutes a legal case of ‘conspiracy.’” She then went off and played the piano for 27 hours straight.

I bet all those displaced Iraqis - the ones who weren’t sh*t stirring educators, reporters, writers, doctors etc. that were eliminated over the past few years - will be quite grateful to eventually return to cheap washing machines & mega-burgers in their homeland…and those heading to the USA, FINALLY, will enjoy cleaning pools, filling gas tanks & starting up yummy restaurants to keep the cash-strapped Americans happy.

And nurses…& doctors (if there are any left)…doesn’t the West have a terrible shortage of these valuable health-care workers?

Heck, that invasion mighta come in real handy after all.

To get an Iraq refugee breakthrough, there has to be a ‘turning point’. Indeed there must be many, many ‘turning points’.

You know like the ‘turning points’ we witness every month or so re the war.

You can read at the SMH site the military chest with medals ,and the thing on the end of an electric fence that swings in either direction, have claimed their mood from Washington,is the same as.. now in Iraq, and forever, a warchest with medals.. Amen. What I mean is… the positive ,always look on the bright side of life…song,is being whistled everywhere in the corridors of Washington power passages, and by means of the consequential activities of the U.S.A. military, synchronicity of similar mood an activity strides past in uniform across the night and day of extrapolation.A positive legacy for all! For he is a jolly good fellow that 9/11 ers cannot deny!?Hip hip Hooray. I haven’t however read that George has retired! So if it isn’t all a bit pre-mature,then is it then ejaculation!?

  6. Anmar Hassan Says:

Hello, i’m from Iraq, and i’d like to say that about 1 million Iraqis in Jordan, about 2-4 Million in Syria, maybe about half a million in UAE (United Arab Emirates).

I’m now in Sweden, i’ve been here for a year, since May 2007, and The Swedish Migration Board disapproved my asylum case giving the following reasons:
    1. **Baghdad is SAFE, and there is NO armed conflict in Iraq.**
    2. You were not threatened personally, The threat was to your Work, so if you leave work, the terrorists will Not kill you.
    3. You did not Ask for protection from the local iraqi authorities… (IMAGINE ! ! !)

So these are the reasons why the SWEDISH MIGRATION BOARD - REFUSED MY ASYLUM CASE -

I’m a Baghdad Residenct, I’m an Electrical Engineer from Baghdad University, a Software Developer (VC++6, C#, VB6/VB.NET, ASP/ASP.NET, Kernel mode developer and can hack too).

USA on the other side if you go to DOD website every now and then you see them saying “Everything is under control” claiming that u.s. has everything under control + the Iraqi Gov also.

Sweden is in a trouble also, after the war, Sweden was accepting any iraqi just by saying he’s Iraqi, so in Sweden now there are Iraqi thieves, smugglers, and maybe murdurers as well who are now having permanent residencies in Sweden. So I think Sweden lately felt the doubt that they might have been acting so naieeve when giving residency to ANY one saying he’s from “iraq” i.e. BLINDLY. And now to correct that mistake they are NOT giving Residencies any more !
and now when the Educated people, Good people, People from Baghdad who came these last couple of years 2007, 2008, are facing Refusals with reasons similar to those above.

The Lawyers say that “the Migration Board is not following the law” and that The decisions are Influenced by Politics.

Let it be known to everyone here, that the worst Disasters happen in Baghdad, and that the Terrorism in Iraq is:
    1. in Baghdad Mainly.
    2. Mousol Less.
    3. Kirkuk Less.
    4. the Mid region of iraq (Anbar, Dyala) (and now it’s almost safe there)

Baghdad Stays at the top, and people of baghdad are facing death, and fleeing out of the country. (the best of iraqi people from Doctors, Engineers, Scientists..etc)

The Iraqi Government now wants the Engineers and the Resources to Rebuild Iraq, and this is also said in the Conference on 29 May, 2008, the ICI (International Compact with Iraq). and Definately they’ve talked to the Swedish authories about refugees here in Sweden and definately Iraq said “We’ll things are very good in baghdad and we need our people back to rebuild our country” !

Well if i go back to Iraq there will happen one thing. I’ll die.

And everyone knows that terrorists are targetting anything with a brain in iraq. so this means the Politics that are controlling the asylum processes now are to clean up the rest of iraqi scientists, Doctors, Engineers, and educated people who fled to other countries.. i.e. to Kill them.

Condoleezza Rice tells the prime minister of Sweden that USA will help take more iraqi refugees.

Well, we’re not asking for a PALACE, and a Lemo, just a RESIDENCY (a Permision to LIVE on a piece of Land on Planet Earth) we can Work and Get Jobs. And someone was correct when he said working in Gas stations and stuff. that’s right. Well Aside from the Racism in applicants selection. I’m talking about people from baghdad who are Educated. These people can work at Cisco, Microsoft, Symantec, Google, or other companies and i don’t mean only IT fields. and No i’m not gonna work in a Gas station !

The best help the US Government can provide us is to Stop funding The Terrorism under the table in Iraq. And Stop using Iraq as a Tool to teach lessons to other countries like Iran, Syria, Lebanon, SA.

Let it be known to all that no one likes to leave his Home, His country, his Family.

Finally i’d like to make it clear that we are good people, educated, we love life, we love other nations, we don’t give a damn about the “Differences” between religions, we respect all religions, we don’t give a damn about your Race if you’re white black or yello or whatever.

and what u see in iraq now is *Artificial* and Millions of dollars are being spent on making Iraqi people look divided, hating each other. this funding is mainly controlled by USA. and the people who love to see iraq like that are Arabs in General.

this is the bare truth so it might be a little hard to some people, i apologize.

And about Iraqis also, we’ve worked with Americans in Baghdad and we have very good relationships with them, so everything i wrote here about USA it does NOT mean American People. It means Authorities.

Thanks, and Sorry for sounding a bit angry.
