War against evil
Rightwingers say the darndest things - - Posted on April, 13 at 2:49 pm by Ken L
Yep, we all know that’s what it boils down to: we are fighting to preserve our way of life and therefore by definition anyone who opposes the war hates America and wants evil to triumph. We’ve long since passed the time when we were at war with a specified enemy, and had old-fashioned things like war objectives and a war strategy. They are such 20th century concepts.
No my friends we are waging endless war against Pure Evil. The trouble is this kind of war requires your unconditional support and you aren’t giving enough of it. Evil therefore has to be continually re- labelled to remind people of the nature of our conflict.
First we were making war on terrorists but there have been no confirmed sightings in the USA since 2002 and in Australia we’re reduced to locking up doctors with dodgy relos in another country. Not such a scary enemy really to justify all the killing and all the sheer anger and hatred that fuels the neo-con war machine.
Thus instead of terrorists we started to fight Islamo-fascists. Sure it’s meaningless gobbledook but it sounds very scary and who wants to be seen to be on the side of fascists? But even that hasn’t been enough apparently. Michael Medved, who has to be about as big a malevolent thick-headed smug dope as ever shilled for the Bush Administration, has now called a spade a spade:
Winning the War on Islamo-Nazism.
Offhand I can’t come up with a stupider rhetorical expression than that but I’m sure Mikey and his buds will think of some. Islamo-Khmer Rougists? A bit awkward. Islamo-Maoists? Oh hell, let’s just call them Islamo-cunts and be done with it.
Remember of course that Mikey and his buds have no argument whatsoever with the vast majority of good innocent Mussies and any suggestion that they are prejudiced bigots is an ad hominem argument that reveals how empty your whole case is and how slight a grasp you have of reality.

Refreshingly articulated Ken…:)
There are so many “eager beaver” flag inserted up their butt justifiers, troop mobilising wallies & self-hating Goebbels’ style propaganda merchants propping up the many factions fighting this war you’d think each was being offered a card to get free fuel at any govt. subsidised petrol station of their choice for the rest of their miserable lives.
Let’s face it, it’s that old chicken & the egg syndrome…who came first?…
the Western military industrial complex w/ its addiction to oil & need to grow by feeding on nutrients derived from an enemy painted as “so evil it’s eviller than the last evil one and has a blood lust that will suck the very marrow from your Jesus/Jerusalem-loving children’s bones” & therefore any smashing of your civil rights and dressing your kiddies up in uniform, licking the boots of Corporatism & playing the “Nationalism or die” card in that NAZI kinda way is…purely coincidental
…OR the
Militant Muslim organisations that rage against the occupation of Muslim countries by hedonistic, bullying and sex-crazed infidels…Muslim-based organisations w/ addictions to guns, bombs & young adults prepared to explode themselves into oblivion in order to spread the word of a peaceful Islam…fighting against an enemy painted as “so evil it’s eviller than the last evil one and has a blood lust that will suck the very marrow from your ALLAH-loving children’s bones”…& therefore any smashing of your civil rights and dressing your kiddies up in uniform, licking the sandals of miilionairre Mullahs & playing the “Jihad or lose” card in that Totalitarian kinda way is…purely coincidental
Winning the War on Islamo-Nazism eh?…hmmm…Nazi, Totalitarian, Fascist…whatever the Busheviks wanna call their enemy…it’s really almost the pot calling the kettle black.
Personally, if a bunch of Aliens offered me & my wife a decade or so long vacation somewhere reasonably harmonious elsewhere in the Universe…& we could take our house, garden, cats and a few mates…i’d be off in a flash.
I’m so tired of all these “greed for gain”, “resource war-driven” religious freaks and their unimaginative, drooling followers.
Thinkin’ about it, wouldn’t it be nice if Aliens took them to fight elsewhere…? Then the rest of us could get on w/ LIVING…primarily in PEACE & HARMONY.
Or just have conflicts in cyber-space…

Holy cow! The irony is MINDBLOWING!!!!
A neocon tosser using Nazism to justify never-ending wars of aggression. My goodness, poor Leo Strauss must be spinning in his grave.
HA! Great stuff that!
Please, please, oh PLEASE treat yourself to a good laugh by looking up “Reductio ad Hitlerum” in the wiki. It’s a hoot!

I’m still uncertain about “Godwin’s law” though.

What war? Aren’t wars where two sides pitch their military might against each other?
The current Iraq turkey shoot is where the world’s mightiest military forces are unable, after five years, to even dent a defenceless nation which possesses no army, navy or airforce.
And where the real terrorists, the United States of Warmongering, having fabricated the war, still can’t win it! Just like Vietnam, this is Iraqnam, another catastrophic American foreign policy sewer trap.
I think it’s fantastic. Just disappointed we aren’t shown the US body bags, that’s all.

Ah!The exercise of a conservative mind!?Or!?Any words that fit like an arrow on a particular bow!?I fire this arrow ,therefore I am a Knight!?I read the article and didnt feel exercised by his exercise of mind. That can only be…I cant tell!?But maybe the U.S.A. is also being stalked by Wrong Way Willy, who I thought at least, was the spirit of an all encompassing Australian Nong!? Nong must of had another relo or, gave birth by Mrs.Wrong Way Willy,to a son who would appear to have learnt all that he knows off some characters ,by emulating,of Leunig’s!?

Fear runs the world and the US knows how to run an effective propaganda campaign.
There are certain terms that you can use and people have an opinion without even effectively evaluating what was said. Using the term “Islamo-Nazism” proves that. The US administration realises that by throwing in the term “Nazism” will conjure up thoughts about the Nazis and no one wants what happened in WWII to ever happen again. It’s an effective way to fight the invisible enemy. It doesn’t matter that the term actually makes no sense at all to the average Joe and Jane. I wouldn’t be surprised to later hear terms like “Islamo-Khmer Rougists” even.
The US has shown that they will do whatever it takes to keep the support for the global war on terror so they can continue to commit human rights atrocities world wide and still be able to get re-elected in their so called democracy.

Has anyone else noticed the Simpsons in the last couple of days?
Friday had Bart wearing a very accurately depicted suicide vest, right down to the palm mounted detonators, made in 2001.
Sunday he’s part of a Boy Band that Bombs Baghdad resulting in burgas vanishing to (multi-racial) bikini babes bobbing beneath. And even that had a further ulterior motive, subliminal recruiting for the military but I missed the year of making - a reference to recent plummetting recruitment rates.

Eeywww - I’ve just read the Medved link but am more worried about the religious ratbaggery than the new silly name for the Great Enemy. (They’ll never do better/worse than a Raygun favourite “Nazi Communists’, sometimes mispoken (sic!) as “Communist Nazis”.
The sheer ignorant bigotry of the whole article was a reminder that bin Liner & Shrub aren’t that far apart in their arrogant ignroance. What was heartening was that the vast majority of the commenters on the site (presumably rightwingers given the publication)derided him soundly.

“Has anyone else noticed the Simpsons in the last couple of days?”
nah!…as far as i’m concerned ‘The Simpsons’ took the long, slow spiral into “yawn” territory a long time ago…i rarely laugh at the gags or lines anymore…i was a fan for years, but once i saw “dumbed down” party boy Aussies acting like Bart…& everywhere you looked some kid was eatin’ junk or playin’ w/ plastic thnx to the “big sell” that accompanied the show, i guess the appeal of watchin’ the characters breakin’ (soft) taboos or exploring the outer limits of “America Corp” meets “Religious wowser” wore off.
Tho I still have a soft spot for Lisa…& the goofy Homer (he has to be one of the funniest & worst role models in history…i imagine he’s indirectly contributed to the bank accounts of plenty of “tummy tuck” specialists over the years).
The Simpsons offers up the occas. piece of overt propaganda like the Baghdad sequence you mentioned amphibious…but usually retreats rapidly to its “safe ground” of plots & characterisations representing the typical zany & dysfunctional American TV family…where God, saturated fats, sugar-laden products, flatulence…& “the nobody who is actually super-somebody” take precedence…
Yep, usually one “nobody” from “nobody family” living in “anytown” ends up taking a Ulysees type journey only to find that bad luck combines w/ good fortune to bring about a lack of upward mobility (a social stalemate)…but also provides the message that “in zany America anything can happen” - land of greed and redemption…and apathetic, dopey workers who are generally grateful that they survive unexpected adventures and smile inanely in the warmth of their family, friends and mediocrity…
‘The Simpsons’ conveys a sense that in the long run its best to work, consume, indulge, repent and find solace in the fact you are part of a nuclear (lol) family, no matter how dysfunctional…and not one of those sad, wandering “others” who are easy to make fun of, could possibly be evil…or need charity & sweet “ahhhhs”.
I reckon South Park is much funnier these days…tho it pisses me they rarely take a dig at the Busheviks. I can’t help but laugh at that foul-mouthed, short, chubby, narcissistic, aspiring despot Eric Cartman…he gets a roar out of me most times.
The show is “freakin’ mad” & gutsy.
Great animated humour demands slaying sacred cows & offering up the unexpected…makin’ you squirm a wee bit. Provided there’s a bit of altruism &/or dose of compassion, a sprinkling of “down-to-earthness” & an expression of characteristics and behaviours we identify with…to offset the more insane elements of the plot. I reckon South Park has all that.
Propaganda has rarely come in a more edible, fun and addictive form…sad, but true. The Yanks have it down to an art form.
And i’m hooked…but when watching I keep a glass of ice water and a pinch of salt next to me just in case I need to
“WAKE UP”.

Islamo-cunts. Gold, Ken, pure gold.
April 14th, 2008 at 8:48 am
If the US wants to wage a war on pure evil, the most evil country on this planet, it won’t have to go far, it would be at war with itself.
April 14th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
It’s also no accident that the verb is in the present continous form - ‘winning’.
Not ‘won’, or ‘will win’, or have won’, etc…
April 16th, 2008 at 6:46 am
Golly, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you folks didn’t like us Americans. Oh well, I guess we’d better ponder the error of our ways.
April 16th, 2008 at 8:12 am
BTW, soon we’re replacing our regular army with Orcs. That’ll save a lot of American lives.
April 17th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Word of warning, IB BILL - Orcs can’t bare hot sunny places like the ME. What you need are Saruman’s Uruk-Kai an infelicitous mating of unpleasant progenitors, sort of what one would get from breeding a neo-con with a .. a… err.. sorry nothing will breed with a neo-con.
April 17th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Nasking, can’t stand “South Park”, “American Dad” & “Family Guy” are much funnier.
April 17th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
jane, we’ll have to agree to disagree…i feel both those shows have gone down hill the last couple of years or so…i haven’t laughed much since “Family Guy” returned from its hiatus. I was a big fan. The alien in ‘American Dad’ gets a chuckle out of me now & then….but imho, the dbl. episode in Saudi was woeful.
I miss me ‘Futurama’…:) Heard there’s a movie out there somewhere.
I will check out “the Simpsons’ Movie” if comes to Showtime.
Speaking of the “War against evil”, I noticed Spielberg is producing another “Band of Brothers” type mini-series called “The Pacific” (shot partially up North)…i sure hope it isn’t used as a full bore recruitment tool…he’s also directing ‘Lincoln’…hopefully both will demonstrate why War & invasions should only be part of a “last resort” process…& defending one’s Nation & allies from REAL & PRESENT DANGERS.
Or liberating the exploited (?)
Tho I guess many New Yorkers…& Israelis…& others who’ve had their homes &/or surrounds bombed would state that the DANGER is ever-present.
As would plenty of Iraqis, Iranians, Lebanese & Palestinians…sigh.
Gets so freakin’ complicated once some dickwad like Bush stirs up the ‘hornet’s nest’.
Just what Doctor Cheney & his pals ordered…a war that feeds on itself & grows like malignant cancer cells…& plenty of FOG.
Whilst some of the Planet burns dry & the rest begins to freeze.
Note: Strange timing by Spielberg.
