The it’s-not-me-it’s-you edition:

The opinion polls do indicate that my level of personal popularity is quite high, given I’ve been prime minister for 11 and a half years, it really is,” he said.

“In fact, my level of personal support is significantly higher than that of the party’s.

“If the party’s level of support in the opinion polls was as high as mine is, well, we’d be a different story.”

John John John … there’s no ‘I’ in ‘team’.

  2. The Intellectual Bogan Says:

Until I checked the link, I was convinced you had to be taking the proverbial.

Words fail me at the arrogance of the man.

You Can’t beat the Geelong Advertiser’s headline for the greatest political quote from the present.
    “COSTELLO TO THE RESCUE”

  4. chinda63 Says:

Right, it’s official. Then man is delusional. He needs to be put out of his misery and fast.

Sorry about the double post. I saw a typo and tried to rectify it by “over-posting”.

Should have known it wouldn’t work ;-)

The narcissism, arrogance and dishonesty is just breathtaking, even after 11 plus years of it.

He just couldn’t reign that planet sized ego in, less than 24 hours after playing the humble card and begging to be re-elected.

According to him, it is NEVER his fault. EVER.

Whatever genuine support he had in his party just evaporated big time. They will stick to him for this election because they have no choice, but he is history.

  8. david wilson Says:

So Johnnie, does that mean that the party is in dire straights without you. Here’s some advice for free, it’s in a bloody mess with you. You can keep denying reality as much as you like, but the punters and battlers who are the ones who ultimately decide if you are popular, will give you a reality check at the poll.

  9. Khay Says:

I blame the kiddies who mob him everywhere he goes.Their parents have a lot to answer for.

He has to remember that fame is not equal to like. These same kiddies mob Paris Hilton.

We can analyze and pontificate over Howards words and deeds until the cows come home!Carve it up how you like, the only real stupid fucktards here, are the nongs that have, and will keep voting for this cretin.Along side some of the pricks that live in my street and yes most of the streets in burbland, Howard is a fucking genius.

I am not yet convinced it is over for this shower of bastards, the average Ozzie oi oi oi is as gullible as the day is long. And the worst part is,Howard for all his failings fucking well knows it.

Kids used to mob Hitler, Mao & Stalin too…when you’ve got the media in your pocket doin’ the propaganda storm day in and day out it’s easy to fool some of the the littluns…particularly when they have parents who are happy to see refugees chucked behind bars, land stolen from Aborigines, the military do their killing for them in Iraq & Afghanistan…

parents happy to pay less tax so as to subsidise their private health care…& their children’s private child care & private education…& in turn take every form of entitlement possible at the expense of single workers & childless couples…:)…

which wouldn’t be so bad, cause every Democratic society should provide choice, if some of them weren’t so ‘up themselves’…& more spent their extra cash on feeding their kids nutritious foods & purchasing books to assist them to read appropriately. And tissues to wipe their noses.

That’s coming from someone who retired ill from a teaching career & didn’t apply for a health care card.

This from the medical journal Lancet:
Australian prime minister’s legitimacy to govern seems fatally compromised by record on indigenous health” (pdf) should drive a final nail into the blowhard’s political coffin, but, sadly, it almost certainly won’t. :(

  13. Ian Says:

    Oops

The ‘legitimacy’ header is from the Lancet press release here not the abstract in the pdf.

  14. Lyn Says:

Jeez Ian, you can’t trust what those ignorant knobheads from the Lancet say.

Just a short while ago they tried to tell us civilians were being killed in Iraq. They’re nothing but a pack of mad, lying, dough-brained shonks.

Next thing you know they’ll be trying to tell us John Howard’s pooh smells just like other people’s pooh. They’re quite demented at the Lancet.

  15. Seeker Says:

    Speaking of the indigenous situation.

    Gee, nobody predicted this outcome.

    [/sarcasm]

  16. nasking Says:

Useful link Ian…it doesn’t surprise me that this government has neglected the area of Aboriginal health…you can’t find 80 + billions of dollars to put away in various funds, including 70 billion in the much touted Future Fund, if you are spending money on essential services, regardless of how much revenue you make on permitting mining companies to rape the land.

Supposedly this government couldn’t find a billion dollars for the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, so those of us with chronic illnesses were forced to pay more. But they didn’t have any problem finding 2 billion for government advertising.

It should be obvious to most voters by now that this is a government serving the few at the expense of the many.

And all those working families enjoying the benefits of entitlements under Howard are going to get a real shock when they realise that these Share Market obsessed freaks that call themselves ‘Free Trade’ pursuers have put in place IR reforms that will make said workers expendable & easy to get rid of when the economy contracts & business costs skyrocket…

and they find themselves wondering where they are going to find secure jobs and the money to pay for those other things going thru the roof, particularly for oil-related & wheat-based products, water, energy, higher education, health care, child care…and their huge mortgages of course…

and to their horror realise the safety net is filled w/ huge gaps…so many will hit the ground hard. As they do in King John’s friend’s land, America.

Particularly as they discover that all those people being trained in Afghanistan & Iraq by the Australian forces are going to apply for an Australian work visa to compete for jobs & to drive wages down. Ouch!

I’m sure that picture above has been transported from the future, post-2007 election…probably around 2009…it’s Howard licking his lips after expanding Workchoices & consuming the Unions…feeding in the trough of his favored Corporate mates…a feast paid for by the dosh they’ve saved by sneakily, incrementally reducing worker’s wages and conditions whilst the economic crunch squeezes the life out the ‘working poor’.

indeed…joni, that reminds me of the title of a Sea Life Park album called “WE GET WHAT YOU DESERVE”…I bet the Iraqi population is feeling that way towards the Busheviks right now.

The sh*t always floats to the top & sits there for yonks stinkin’ up the room for everyone else.

    Btw, cool blog.
