Blindness meltdown
Literature, Music - - Posted on August, 24 at 2:41 pm by Tim
I managed to lose my copy of Blindness for most of the week - left it in a park near our house. Went back when I realised, four days later, and it was still there. Could be the ultimate review, I guess. Anyway, no post on that today, but will next week and will try and wrap it up. I’m not sure how well this has worked. Perhaps the book didn’t hit the right spot with enough people? Anyway, I’ve got a few other books I wouldn’t mind doing, so I’ll run those by you too. In the meantime, here’s my second favourite Elvis song, in honour of the 30th anniversary of his (alleged) death. Dig that crazy split screen technology….

But I’m on top!
Actually, I’ve always liked Candy Says. Did you embed it via this (http://www.last.fm/music/The+
Velvet+Underground/_/Candy+Says), or did you just upload it?

Fair suck of the sauce bottle, Tim. I just managed to get a copy of “Blindness”. What’s with the deadlines? We are talking about literature here.
“The Road”, via library talking book, by Cormac McCarthy is grim as hell. Reminds me of Waiting for Godot. I have not finished all of it yet. It is due back next week, but it is high on my list of priorities. Nice choice, whoever it was.
Do not give up on this idea. It is a good one. You will need to be patient, though.

Got a quarter of the book to go. Like it a lot. Will chime in next week with my two pesos worth when you wrap it. I agree with joe2 on three counts. Saramago writes literature; sharing books and how we think and feel about them online is a great idea; and be patient so you can grow it going forward.
(sorry, couldn’t help myself).
And Tim, perhaps our next selection will be more of a “can’t put downer” than a “park leaver” for you.

Sure, I’m happy to keep going at the same pace. It’s just we didn’t seem to be getting too much input and I figured people weren’t interested. But no worries, suits me fine.
I didn’t leave the book in the park on purpose, btw! I had about 8 books with me and thought I had em all back in the bag. Anyway, if I get a chance, I’ll put a post up early in the week, rather than wait till Friday. See how we go…

Gianna, I can figure out the answer to that…

I really thought that everybody would have grown out of Presley many years ago.
At the time I thought he was a petulant talentless creep boosted by extensive post-processing and endless hype.
Seems the hype continues …

Everybody’s fave Elvis song has to be ‘Old Shep’. It’s practically my fave song in the whole damn world … number two maybe after ‘Ebony Eyes’ by the Everly Brothers.
Songs about dead dogs and plane crashes … eh it was a simpler world back in those days.

…still thinking then, Tim? didn’t realise it was that hard. (and Ken, no feeding him answers, ok?)
by the way, who takes eight books to the park???

“by the way, who takes eight books to the park???”
Speed-readers, identifying intellectuals and folk with names like Emile, Tim and Marcel one supposes, Gianna.
Almost done, looking forward to exchanging insights on the whiteness.
