Business opportunity

Iran has adopted our prime minister’s straetgy to combat global warming. Good on ‘em I say, very responsible.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran, embroiled in a row with the West over its nuclear ambitions, will issue tenders in the next few days for two new atomic power plants, a senior official said on Sunday.

Ahmad Fayazbakhsh, an official at Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, said the power plants would each have capacity for 1,000 to 1,600 MW and would be built at Bushehr, the southwest port city where Russians are building Iran’s first atomic plant.

I wonder if that mob of Ron Walker’s will put in a bid. They could maybe engage a few ex-AWB execs to give some advice about doing business in the Middle East.

This is very much off-topic, but is it just me or is Blogocracy crashing for other people? Every time I load it today I’m getting an error “we must close this window” message, and that’s it. Tried it on both mac and pc: nuttin’.

One interesting aspect of the whole environment debate is the contrast of the moral free rider approach of the tories with the somewhat glib overtures of the Labs. Turnbull is guilty of the fatal mistake of believing his own bullshit and Garrett is clearly a liability in the world of real politik. What causes one to despair is the notion that so many marketable renewable technologies have gone off-shore because the tories have a morbid fear of universities as being viper’s nests of political activism, so they have cut off the drip feed of funding. It is so easy to keep throwing favours to mining magnates rather than show vision. Whilst Tin Tin is alluding to the notion of Australia producing this kind of marketable technology, it is alarming how this situation resembles the UK of 1997. Tin Tin is probably another Blair, although I don’t think his handlers are as bright as Blair’s.
If you listen to the RN “Hindsight” series on the history of the Liberals in Oz you would pine for the days of Fraser.

    Maybe Halliburton…:)

I imagine this news is pumping up the architects of the Iraq War…certain dopey Iranians just love holding up that red flag to stir up the Neo-Cons.

I wonder what they’re doing these days apart from appearing on good ole CNN & the like?:

Oh, THAT Howard policy. I thought perhaps the Iranians were going to pay some poor African country to plant trees for them.
