We are not worthy

Rightwingers say the darndest things - 17 Comments » - Posted on October, 31 at 2:20 pm

Edit-orial

Australia in Iraq - 6 Comments » - Posted on October, 31 at 9:15 am

Today’s editorial in The Australian addresses once again the issue of withdrawing from Iraq and it gets off to a flying start with this headline: Any exit must be made with care.

Thou shalt not wedge

Education, Howard govt, Religion in all its many forms - 25 Comments » - Posted on October, 30 at 11:39 am

Can someone explain to me how this fits the role of government in a secular society:
THOUSANDS of religious counsellors will be appointed to schools that join a new $90 million federal program to fill a significant “spiritual and pastoral” gap in services to Australian students.
SAINT JOHN UPDATE:
John Howard
Teachers baulk at Howard’s chaplains
Jill Rowbotham, Religious affairs […]

Australia in Iraq - 4 Comments » - Posted on October, 30 at 9:39 am

Have you noticed how infrequently the name of Flight Lieutenant Paul Pardoel gets mentioned in the Australian media, let alone by the Australian Government?

Muddling through?

Post-invasion iraq - 5 Comments » - Posted on October, 30 at 8:43 am

Andrew Sullivan has up a brief exchange he did with former Good News From Iraq blogger, Arthur Chrenkoff. Money quote, as Andrew would say:
I think that one way or another Iraq will muddle through. It really sickens me to see people who seem to cheer the problems over there just so they can score […]
